Tank and Tankless Water Heater Services

Hot water fails on its own schedule — usually early morning, usually mid-winter — and a failed water heater is equal parts plumbing, fuel, venting, and safety device. We size replacements from the household's actual demand and the home's actual connections, not the old tank's label, and we handle the code side: permits, discharge piping, expansion control, and disposal of the old unit.

Scope, stated plainly: our water-heater work is installation, replacement, and condition-based service — flushing, tankless descaling, and expansion-tank work. We're specific about that rather than advertising a broad repair service, because in this region's hard water an aging tank's honest answer is usually replacement — and the diagnostic visit is where that call gets made with numbers instead of optimism.

Do you install both tank and tankless water heaters?
Yes — both are core services. Storage tanks remain the right choice for most homes: familiar, dependable, and sized to a household's rhythm. Tankless units earn their place in specific situations: continuous demand, tight spaces, longer-ownership horizons, and homes prepared for their maintenance schedule. The honest comparison — including what each asks of your gas line, venting, and water quality — is what the evaluation visit produces. We install what fits your house, not what's easiest to sell.
How do I know what size I need?
By demand, not by matching the old tank. For storage tanks that means household size and usage patterns driving a first-hour rating — how much hot water the unit delivers in a busy morning hour — with recovery rate right behind it. For tankless it means simultaneous fixture count and the incoming water temperature (cold Utah winters raise the temperature-rise requirement dramatically). The old tank's size is history that may have been wrong for decades; the calculation comes with the quote so you can see the reasoning.
Do you repair water heaters?
Our published water-heater services are installation, replacement, and the condition-based work on this family of pages — flushes, descaling, and expansion control. When a unit fails, the useful question is repair-versus-replace, and the diagnostic visit answers it honestly: age, condition, and the failure itself decide, with numbers for both paths. If a repair is genuinely right, we'll say so. We simply don't advertise water-heater repair as a standalone service — in this region's hard water, most aging tanks are closer to replacement than their owners hope.
Why is the relief valve dripping?
Because something upstream is wrong, and the valve is doing its job. The temperature-and-pressure relief valve opens when pressure or temperature exceeds safe limits — so a drip means thermal expansion with nowhere to go (a closed system without a working expansion tank), excessive pressure, or a failing valve. None of those is fixed by capping the discharge — that's how water heaters become hazards. The drip gets diagnosed: expansion control, pressure check, valve replacement as warranted. Do you offer financing?
Payment at CMB is straightforward — we accept all major credit cards, and no payment is required to book the visit. For larger projects, the quote visit is where payment options get confirmed against current programs, and any utility or manufacturer incentive that applies to your project appears as its own verified line on the written quote. What we don't do is bake vague 'financing available' promises into a page — the numbers you sign are the numbers you pay.
